Alan Baltes of The Examiner reports that Serendipity Point Films will be holding an open casting call for singers and dancers aged 8 to 16 to appear in their Slasher musical, Stage Fright, currently in pre-production (and not a remake of the 1987 Slasher by Michele Soavi).
We’d previously reported that Meat Loaf has been attached to the feature film to be directed by Jerome Sable. Sable had gained some notice from his helming The Legend of Beaver Dam, a short film which also mixed signing with Slashing.
As Baltes writes, Stage Fright is being described as Glee meets Scream, and centers on Camilla Swanson (to be played by Canadian Allie Macdonald), a teen who works in the kitchen at a musical theatre camp but harbors dreams of super stardom. Camilla lands a key role in the showcase but her chance to shine may be cut short when fellow campers are killed off by the Metal Killer, a homicidal psycho who screams death metal while chopping through musical theatre snobs.
This has the potential to be the most original new Slasher film since Detention.
