Dread Central and Bloody Disgusting—among many others—report that the Sacha Gervasi-directed Hitchcock, with Anthony Hopkins as the great director, will be swooping into theatres on Friday, November 23rd (for my fellow Canadians: that’s the Friday after American Thanksgiving).
A Fox Searchlight release, the film tells the story of Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren, with the making of Psycho as a backdrop (hence our reporting on it here).
Hitchcock is based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello and, in addition to Hopkins and Mirren, stars Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, and . . . (gasp) . . . Ralph Macchio!
This is just one of two bio-style projects featuring the director of Vertigo, North by Northwest, and countless other classics. Toby Jones will also be playing Hitch in the TV movie, The Girl.
